That was the time when Christopher Nolan's The Prestige used to be my all time favorite film... I hadn't yet watched a film by Kurosawa, Bergman, Fellini, Bunuel, Ray or Tarkovsky. Things changed when one day I read an article in HT which talked about Al Pacino's list of all time favorite directors. That was when I finally came to terms with the real realm of cinema. Going back to 2009, during a conversation with a few of my classmates I got to hear about "The Perfume". I learnt that it was really popular among the hostelers at Jamia Millia Islamia (I am absolutely certain that it would have been the subject that would have.aroused their interests... and not their knowledge of cinema). So, in my curiosity, I decided to give it a go. Like any uninitiated viewer, I failed to appreciate the film. I think its almost two years since I first discovered this blog of yours... and I while I may have started to mature as a viewer ever since I read the HT article, I must admit that my real developed started only after I came in contact with this blog. So, a couple of years back when I was first exploring this blog I came across this review of The Perfume... and I was really amused to have discovered it here, for I had never thought that the film was good enough to be rated so highly. But, I did read the review and it convinced me to revisit the film. Needless to say, my subsequent viewings of the film have helped me completely change my opinion. Now, I can see why Academy fails to acknowledge such sublime works of cinema: it's not only because of their perpetual ignorance but also because of their inherent pusillanimity.Murtaza Alihttp://www.apotpourriofvestiges.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33415680.post-49975437479748072242009-04-20T13:22:00.000+05:302009-04-20T13:22:00.000+05:30excellent... will have to see it soon...excellent... will have to see it soon...srikanthhttp://theseventhart.infonoreply@blogger.com
